The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation holds the responsibility of implementing the Malawi Foreign Policy in order to promote and protect Malawi’s interests on the international arena.
The Ministry facilitates foreign aid mobilization, attraction of foreign investment, promotion of tourism, the expansion and diversification of export markets in order to derive optimal benefits from globalization. Further, through bilateral and multilateral arrangements, the Ministry contributes to efforts related to maintenance of peace and security through inter alia, conflict prevention and resolution, disarmament and non-proliferation, as well as fight against international terrorism. Governance and human rights issues also form part of the Ministry’s work.
In relation to the Diaspora, the Ministry is custodian to the Diaspora Engagement Policy and houses the Diaspora Affairs Unit (DAU) which is coordinating the Diaspora Engagement Programme.

- Airport VIP Lounge facilities are available to the general public. To utilize the facility one needs to apply through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Please note that a fee of K50,000.00 per person is applicable for each single use.
